Advancing Innovation Through Collaboration

The Security Trust (ST) a virtual compendium of "think tanks" to influence a strategic security path. One of the goals of the ST is to create an “accelerating innovation?ecology that will allow for quicker development and discovery of cutting edge IT security products, and roll them into the DoD, Federal Government and private industry operating systems. As part of the ST framework we propose to establish a policy, inter-disciplinary development group and program in conjunction with Center for Technology and National Security (CTSNP) at the National Defense University (NDU). The NDU has for several years had a focused program to investigate precisely the issues centered around fostering new IT security products for DoD, and has built an intellectual base and core staff in this area. Leveraging these resources for the ST projects can add immediate value to the proposed efforts.

The initial efforts over the first 12 months will consist of:

  • Holding 2- 3 workshops of stakeholders and subject matter experts from Government, industry, system integration, academia and DoD decision makers to define the landscape of what technical and policy problems exist, and how to move forward on creating an advancing innovation ecology
  • Establishment of a small study group at CTNSP to serve as the core intellectual trust for the ongoing SINET community
  • Development of white papers and an extensive report which captures the outcome of the workshops and research, and makes firm recommendations for how to develop the innovation ecology structure and operational rules.
