San Francisco, Calif. - June 30, 2011 - The Security Innovation Network™ (SINET), an organization focused on the advancement of cyber security innovation through public-private collaboration today announced that General Keith B. Alexander, the Commander of U.S. Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) and Director, National Security Agency/Chief, Central Security Service (NSA/CSS), will provide a keynote address at the second annual SINET Showcase, October 26, 2011 at the National Press Club in Washington D.C.

As Commander of the new USCYBERCOM, General Alexander is responsible for planning, coordinating and conducting operations and defense of Department of Defense (DoD) computer networks as directed by USSTRATCOM. As the Director of NSA and Chief of CSS, he is responsible for a Department of Defense agency with national foreign intelligence, combat support, and U.S. national security information system protection responsibilities.

With increasing threats facing our nation’s critical infrastructure, military networks and valued information, DoD has formally recognized cyberspace as a new domain for warfare, and is adapting its defenses in cyberspace and improving cyber security while safeguarding civil liberties and privacy. General Alexander will address these initiatives, the need for private industry to work with the public sector to protect critical infrastructure and networks, and the need for more innovative secure technologies.

“One of the highest ranking military officials, General Alexander has been a supporter of SINET for several years and we are honored to have him deliver the keynote for the SINET Showcase 2011. His presence signals a powerful message to the entrepreneurs’ that what they build is important to our nation. This level of support and leadership is critical to the advancement of innovation. SINET continues to give the entrepreneur a voice and increase awareness between the builders, buyers, researchers and investors within the cyber security ecosystem,” said Robert D. Rodriguez, Chairman & Managing Principal for the Security Innovation Network.

In addition, the General will close two days of hands-on workshops, technology demonstrations and high-profile panel sessions with the presentation of awards to the SINET "16" - sixteen potentially game-changing cyber solutions carefully vetted by the SINET Steering Committee.
