Cyber Matchmaker

Perhaps a retired Secret Service agent doesn't make you think eHarmony. But, it turns out, Robert Rodriguez is quite the matchmaker for innovators and entrepreneurs of IT security technologies. He's helped government agencies, system integrators and private industry find love through The Security Innovation Network, which aims to bridge the gap "between Silicon Valley and the Beltway."

"Our goal is to provide access to our database of 1,200 start-ups and emerging companies to gov't and industry markets, allowing real time search to what they're looking for," says Robert, who each year hosts the IT Security Entrepreneur's Forum at Stanford. (Keynote this year was NSA Director Keith Alexander.) Thursday, he's hosting an event at the Press Club featuring former Director of National Intel Mike McConnell. "Cyber is becoming a national priority, so there are opportunities even as other sectors struggle. Plus you'll be helping the country," Robert told us yesterday.
