Dr. Jane A. “Xan” Alexander is an independent technical consultant. She supports government and private clients
by providing technical advice, R&D strategy development, technology development and transition support, and R&D
organization management recommendations.
Jane has over 20 years of service in the federal government. During this period, she served in a variety of positions within the executive and legislative branches. Most recently, she was the Deputy Director of the Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency. Previously, Jane served as the Executive Director for Science and Technology at the Department of the Navy’s Office of Naval Research. Prior to that, she was the Deputy Director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Jane holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She received her B.S. in Physics from Stanford University. In 1994, Jane received the Arthur S. Flemming award honoring the top ten Federal employees under 40 years of age. In 1998, she received the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service. In 2001, she received the Department of Defense Distinguished Medal for Civilian Service. |
