Marlene M. Roberts serves as Senior Specialist (Critical Infrastructure Protection) at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Her primary duties include serving as the FDIC’s representative on the Financial and Banking Information Infrastructure Committee, working as a liaison with the Treasury Department’s Office of Critical Infrastructure Protection, and serving as the banking and finance sector liaison for the Department of Homeland Security’s IP/ICAO and HITRAC divisions and US-CERT. Ms. Roberts has also worked closely with the United States Department of the Treasury to create regional coalitions for the banking and finance sector. Ms. Roberts also serves as the FDIC’s Division of Supervision and Consumer Protection business continuity coordinator.
Prior to her current assignment, Ms. Roberts served as an Information Technology Examination Specialist at the FDIC’s San Francisco Regional Office. In that role, she was responsible for establishing and instructing examiner IT training programs, developing IT-related banker outreach events, and providing oversight for the information technology examination function of the San Francisco Region’s Division of Supervision and Consumer Protection. Prior to moving to San Francisco in 1998, she worked for the FDIC’s Chicago Region as a risk management and information technology examiner.
Ms. Roberts was actively involved in the FDIC’s examination related Year 2000 efforts. She served on a three member team that developed the FDIC’s Year 2000 examiner training program in 1997 and the Year 2000 Phase II examiner training program in 1998. She also served as an instructor for both courses, delivering the training to over 1,000 financial institution examiners. Additionally, Ms. Roberts served as project leader for the interagency bank regulatory team that developed the Year 2000 Phase II Workprogram that was used by financial institution regulatory agencies to assess the Year 2000 readiness efforts of federally insured financial institutions. In recognition of her Year 2000-related efforts, Ms. Roberts received an Outstanding Accomplishment Award from the Federal Financial Institution’s Examination Council and the Chairman’s Excellence Award from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Ms. Roberts earned her B.A. in Business Administration from William Woods College, Fulton, Missouri.
