Art Chantker

Art Chantker is President of Potomac Forum, LTD, a national consulting company focusing on helping government and industry with their technology, management, and marketing needs. Art’s specific interest is helping agencies effectively procure and implement technology and manage their organization. Art’s clients range in size from Fortune 100, to mid-size and small businesses.

Art retired from federal government service in 1997. During his government career, he served as the U.S. Department of Education’s first director of information technology, capital planning and investments, and had a key role in implementing the Clinger-Cohen Act within the Department of Education. Prior to Clinger-Cohen, he was the department’s director of information technology.

Art also served at the Office of Naval Research in the position now designated as the chief information officer and served in a similar position at the U.S. Marshal Service, Department of Justice. He also served in senior management positions with the Office of the Secretary of Transportation.
During Art’s career, he has been involved in leadership positions in numerous professional organizations such as Association for Federal Information Resources Management, Industry Advisory Council, Women In Technology and Council for Excellence in Government.

Additionally, Art has moderated and chaired numerous conferences, sessions and panels and served on several conference executive committees. He has received many government management awards including the Vice President’s “Hammer Award.”
